Can termites eat cabinets?

Updated: Feb 22, 2022

Yes,

Termites can rip apart kitchen cabinets, book racks and etc. This is due to the fact

  • plywood,

  • veneered particle board,

  • mdf boards

are easy to be eaten by termites. These are soft woods. Take a look at the example of termites ripping apart book racks and kitchen cabinets.

Our suggestion is to inform your cabinet manufacturers and installers to always have a sliding door at the back so that you are aware what goes on at the back of the cabinet and walls

SLIDING DOOR AT THE BACK OF THE CABINET

The sliding door will give you access and view if there's any termite activity and occurrence at the back. It's also easier to treat the problem when termite operators are able to access the area

This is a termite educational and informational video. Termites are an organized structural damaging pest. This pest is a common problem and issue in Malaysia and South East Asia
